The Department of Mathematics came into existence as a full-fledged department in 1993. Earlier it was under the umbrella of the Physical Sciences Group since the inception of the institute in 1986. The department has highly qualified faculty members, having specializations of both Pure and Applied Mathematics. Besides teaching, the faculty members are actively engaged in research activities. The Department is a member of NBHM, Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India, which regularly provides new books and journals free of charge. The department is credited with awarding one research scholar with PhD in the year 2006.
