The department
of Electronics &
Communication
Engineering was
established in
the year 1985.
The first batch
of intake was
taken in 1986.In
the short span
the department
of Electronics &
Communication
Engineering is
poised to meet
the changing
technological
scenario & the
technical man
power
requirement
through its
updated course
curriculum,
experienced
faculty members,
skilled
supporting
staffs, and with
the help of
sophisticated
laboratories
For students to
get entry to a
module
vertically to
the next higher
module, students
must get a
minimum of 3.25
(out of 5.0)
CGPA at the end
of each module
consist of two
years each. For
those getting
lateral entry
into a module
are given bridge
courses. The
bridge courses
are designed to
make the lateral
entry students
at par with the
vertical
students of the
respective
module.
The department
has thirteen
laboratories for
conducting
various
practical
classes, twelve
faculty members
(total
sanctioned post
24) and five
technical
staffs, one LDC,
six laboratory
helpers and a
peon.
The department
possesses an
independent and
well equipped
seminar room to
run regular
academic
activities such
as seminar,
lecture series,
workshops,
techno quiz and
other various
activities
organized by
NERIST
Electronics
Society (NES)
jointly with the
department of
ECE.
An advanced
computer
laboratory has
been setup for
the faculty
members to meet
advanced
computational
requirements. A
computer
laboratory with
HP, Compaq and
IBM PCs has been
developed
exclusively for
students of the
department. The
departmental
library is being
developed to
support the
academic thrust
of the students
and the faculty
members of the
department .The
department has
been organizing
international
and national
conferences, and
ISTE sponsored
short term
courses keeping
in view of the
recent trends in
technology.
Internet and
E-mail are the
other facilities
of the
department. The
department has
been awarded a
number of MOD,
R&D and thrust
Area projects by
the ministry of
HRD, DST and DOE
of Govt. of
India.
