The Cell also organizes industrial training or field training for a period of 50 days at the end of the pre-final year during summer vacation, which is a compulsory requirement in partial fulfillment of the curriculum. Some of the organizations where NERIST students go for their training are:

The Training and Placement (T & P) Cell also guides and helps the final year students in securing jobs commensurate with their knowledge and other achievements, by organizing campus interviews and exploring various avenues for their placement.

The Cell also organizes regular workshops for pre-final and final year students. The basic objective of these workshops is to provide sufficient exposure to the students in the areas related to recruitment, selection and personality development, to facilitate their entry into leading and highly professional organizations. Such workshops provide information and guidance for preparing bio-data and better communication skills. It also provides necessary guidance for participating in group discussion and interview facing skills.

All facilities are provided to the officials conducting campus interviews on NERIST campus. Arrangement can also be made for conducting interviews at Guwahati on weekends and holidays. The organizations which recently came to conduct campus interviews include: APTECH, CMC, EIL, GAIL, HCL-HP, Hindustan Papers Corporation, Indian Army, IOC, OIL, Siemens Software, Powergrid, Tata-Telecom, Wipro Infotech, TERI, PRADAN, CAPART,etc.
