Since its inception in 1991, the Training and Placement (T&P) Cell of the Institute provides training, placement and career development opportunities to the students.

Basic objectives of the cell are:

1. To organizes industrial training or field training for a period of 30 to 45 days at the end of pre-final year during the summer vacation which is a compulsory requirement in partial fulfillment of the curriculum.

2. To organize interviews for final year students through Industry- Institute Interaction activities.

3. To organize Short Term Courses/workshop to prepare students for various Interviews.

Industrial Training programme for the students is a compulsory requirement in partial fulfillment of the curriculum. T&P Cell organizes such programmes for a period of 30-45 days at the end of the pre-final year during summer vacation. During the year 2010-11 trainings were conducted in reputed organizations such as IOC, OIL Ashok Leyland, ONGC, Gammon India Ltd, HPC, NIC, DRDO, NESAC, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., NBCC, L&T, CPWD, CIAE, ICAR, Mother Diary, RFRI, NEIST, Stock Holding Corporation of India, NEDFI, HCL, NRFMTTI Hissar, CIAE Bhopal, ICR Research Complex for NEH Region Meghalaya, IWST Bangalore, WTI Guwahati and WWF etc.

The T&P Cell is also instrumental in counseling the final year students in securing jobs in consonance with their knowledge and skills by organizing campus interviews and at the same time exploring various other avenues for their placements. It organizes workshops for the pre-final and final year students to provide them with sufficient exposure in areas pertaining to their recruitment and selection, and to facilitate their entry into leading and highly professional organizations.
